Meet Paula
Paula Naumcheff is a celebrated chef, culinary instructor, and food writer—and now, the creative force behind Eat Splendid, where she shares inspired recipes, food stories, entertaining advice, and culinary education.
With a career spanning decades, Paula has taught countless aspiring chefs, both in the classroom and through her public cooking classes and media appearances. She served as a faculty member for a Culinary Arts Associate’s Degree Program and is a certified instructor for the National Restaurant Association.
A proud Macedonian-American, Paula’s culinary journey began in her family’s kitchen. Her lineage includes generations of restaurateurs—her grandfather Tony ran restaurants in Michigan and Florida, her father owned a beloved Detroit theater district spot, and her mother, a gifted scratch baker, passed down a love of baking that Paula continues to honor today.
Before dedicating herself fully to the culinary world, Paula earned a bachelor’s degree in Finance and built a successful corporate career in sales, training, and finance for Fortune 100 companies. She also worked as a model and actress, appearing in national print campaigns and film.
However, through every chapter, food remained her passion and true calling. Renowned as a national bread artist, Paula’s edible creations—especially her intricate focaccia gardens—have earned acclaim for their artistry and technique. She honed her breadmaking skills under the mentorship of artisan baker Chef Joseph Carey and credits him with deepening her love for the craft.
As a restaurateur, Paula transformed a dusty flea market in Memphis into a dining hotspot, named Sweet Bistro. Her restaurant won multiple honors including Best Dessert and Best Martini Bar in Memphis Magazine.
Today, Paula focuses on sharing her culinary expertise through Eat Splendid, making guest chef appearances, and teaching others the art of beautiful living through food. She lives in Huntsville, Alabama, with her adorable rescue dogs, Izzy and Henry.
