Classic Cream Cheese Frosting (Smooth, Tangy & Foolproof)

Servings Recipe makes 6+ cups of cream cheese frosting

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup (1½ sticks = 6 ounces) unsalted butter, softened
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • dash of salt
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 4+ cups sifted powdered sugar

For an Espresso Cream Cheese Frosting, add 1/2 teaspoon espresso powder and few teaspoons of my Espresso Syrup, adjusting the powdered sugar for consistency if needed.

How to Make Cream Cheese Frosting

  1. Using stand or electric mixer, whip butter, cream cheese, salt, vanilla and lemon juice until smooth.
  2. Gradually add the powdered sugar, beating on medium speed until creamy and well combined. Add additional powdered sugar if necessary to achieve desired consistency.
