Smashed Pear Bourbon Cocktail

Servings 1 cocktail

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces honey bourbon, such as Jack Daniel’s Honey Whiskey
  • 1/2 oven roasted ripe pear (peel, stem, and core removed)
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 1 1/2 ounces ginger simple syrup
  • a few dashes orange bitters
  • 2 ounces orange juice or fruit nectar (pear or peach)
  • plain sparkling water or soda

 

 

Instructions

  1. In a dry cocktail shaker, add the pear flesh, honey bourbon, lemon juice, and orange bitters. Muddle well and stir until pear is broken down.
  2. Add vanilla ginger simple syrup and orange juice or fruit nectar (pear or peach).
  3. Dry shake all ingredients until well combined and frothy. Hold the cocktail shaker top firmly as you shake the ingredients.
  4. Pour pear mixture into an empty rocks glass. Top with sparkling water or plain soda.
  5. Stir well and add crushed ice.
  6. Garnish as desired.

Oven Roasted Pears
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Half ripe pears and place on parchment lined baking sheet flesh side up. Sprinkle pears with cinnamon. Bake for 20 minutes. Let cool, then remove skin and core easily from flesh. Store covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, or in the freezer for 2 months.
